With the reduction of the allied troops in Germany free space for apartements has been obtained. The estate "Tennessee avenue” in Karlsruhe is a showpiece for such a conversion. On the area of the former American barracks 426 renovated apartments, 220 new apartments by heightening the existing buildings and 120 added apartments were created.
